Swimmers

Please read carefully this page and get familiar with the website. 99% of the time you can find an answer posted here or on the other pages.

Also make sure that you have ALL forms done and turned in before the season starts. You will NOT be able to participate if any of the forms is missing!

In addition to COVID -19 guidelines here are general Rules and Expectation

  1. Follow the DHS rules.

  2. Follow the YMCA rules.

  3. Follow the rules about sports conduct.

  4. Be polite and respectful to others.

  5. Be on time.

  6. No one in water before a coach is present.

  7. Everyone in the group that is assigned to set up the pool for that day must participate in setting the pool up.

  8. Absolutely no diving from long sides and shallow side of the pool!!!

  9. Always enter the pool feet first unless it is said otherwise.

  10. Everyone’s best effort is EXPECTED during each event regardless of your experience with or fondness of the event.

  11. Entries are made in order to best utilize each member of the TEAM and in order to best compete as a TEAM.

  12. Always shake hands with the other competitors in the pool. Remember - without someone to compete against, you wouldn't be here. Good sportsmanship is non-negotiable.

  13. After home meets, no one leaves until the pool deck is picked up. Don’t change too early into dry clothes - you might get wet during clean up!

  14. Everyone stays on deck cheering until the last swimmer exits the pool. You may not leave early unless there is an extreme circumstance and a note.

  15. If we have an away meet, everyone will ride back on the bus.

  16. Dress up on the day of meet. Nice pants and the warm-up top is acceptable.

  17. In order to have an excused absence I need a note from parents IN ADVANCE.

  18. If you miss any practice 48 hours prior meet, you might not be entered into the meet.

  19. Christmas break is NOT automatically excused. You still need a note from parents. Points during Christmas break will be: Excused = 2pts. Attended practice 3pts.

  20. Unexcused missed practice = suspension from team. If it is an emergency, such as an illness, it can be solved the next day. (Going to Grandma’s birthday party is NOT an emergency…)
